Fall Lawn Seeding

(Last Updated On: March 2, 2017)

September is the best month to Start a new lawn or over-seed. October is the next best month. Start with some weed control. Depending on your lawn you will want to use Lawn Weed Killer or Round Up. Spread Wentworth Whitehouse Grass Seed at 5 lbs.- 10 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. Then apply Greenview Renu Seed Starter Fertilizer and also add Pelletized Lime at 40 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. If you have bare spots use Penn Mulch or straw to keep your seed in place. Keep the soil moist by misting lightly every day for 1 week and the grass will be germinated! Continue watering your young grass, but now water less often and longer each time. Four weeks later apply Greenview Fall Fertilizer or Scotts Lawn Pro Fertilizer. This will build strong healthy grass. Your final application is four weeks after that, apply Greenviews Late Fall or Scotts Lawn Pro Fall Fertilizer. This is your winterizer and will keep the grass fed till March when you feed again. Wait as long as you can stand it before the first mowing – let the grass grow to 6-8 inches and then mow and remove about 3 inches. Suck up any straw with the mower the first several mows. Then hand rake off any additional straw. After Raking over-seed any thin spots. Stop by to discuss your lawns specific needs.
