Black Eyed Susan

Black-eyed Susan or Rubeckia, is an easy-to-grow wildflower perennial, native to north America. These popular plants are known for their vibrant yellow petals with raised dark brown centers. Reaching heights of 3 feet, black-eyed Susan are typically hardy in zones 3 to 8 and bloom from June to October.

Rubeckia, is Maryland’s state fl ower and thrives in full sun but can tolerate some shade. These beautiful flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. Birds also benefit from these fl owers as they feed on the seeds in fall and winter, additionally they play host to several species of butterfly larvae and are deer resistant.
